When you retire from a charity what happens?  A lot of people volunteer as they work in the ‘regular’ world.  This is a way to give back while trying to look after yourself and family.  

What do people who retire from a charity do?  They don’t get asked to come and spend some time helping in a corporate or government world, use their skills to benefit those sectors.  No one says, ‘Hey, why don’t you come over to my office and help me analyze the Q2 sales?’  You don’t read a post on social media about friends who are now installing the HVAC in a building being renovated for industrial condominiums and decide to reach out and offer your assistance.  Never has an email arrived announcing a need for volunteers to develop a LNG strategy and build the infrastructure for it.  

Yet if you think hard and look at retirement it should be that way.  You go help in an area where your skills are needed, but on your terms.
